This year the Winter Charity Ball will be held under the patronage of his Excelllency the Belgian Ambassador Mr Guy Trouveroy and the Ministry of Culture Mr A.A. Avdeev. SAR Prince Lorenz of Belgium will be the guest of honnor of an event dedicated to Belgium.

The annual Charity Ball for the benefit of the Foundation “Rehabilitation of the Child” was started in May 1996 by the German Ambassador in Moscow, Dr. Ernst Joerg von Studnitz and his wife Polly von Studnitz, the patroness of our Day Clinic.

When Ambassador Dr. von Studnitz retired in 2002, the six year tradition of the Ball was continued by a dedicated group of women in Moscow under the spirited guidance of Princess Maria Anna Galitzine. The event then became known as the “Winter Ball” and the venue was moved from the elegant residence of the Ambassador to the renown Baltschug Kempinski Hotel.

Over the past years the ball has gained greatly in popularity and public acclaim. Thanks to its illustrious patrons and guests and its stylish and exhilarating atmosphere The Winter Ball has since become one of the most glittering and desirable events in the Moscow social calendar.

Today, the proceeds of the “Winter Ball” are a major and indispensable Russian contribution to the life and work of the Rehabilitation Centre. It has thus become a beacon of hope for the most vulnerable of our society.
